Sports Minister Govind Gaude on Tuesday said the Chicalim Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) ground and the indoor complex stadium are expected to be completed by August.
Gaude and Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho carried out a joint inspection of ongoing works at Chicalim SAG ground and also reviewed works at the indoor complex stadium.
Speaking to media after the inspection, Gaude said Chicalim has a beautiful ground which would promote a lot of sportspersons.
"We have a squash court and other facilities available in the indoor complex and works are almost 90 per cent completed. We have inspected the works to check for any improvement. This is our first site inspection and we are also working on a volleyball court here.”
“The work will be completed by August, after which the entire infrastructure could be opened for the public," said Gaude.
Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho said the Chicalim SAG ground is almost ready, while the indoor sports complex area has been a hub for badminton players.
“We have requested the minister to take steps to improve the roofing, lighting and tackling the pigeon menace and this will prevent issues faced by players at the indoor complex in the monsoon,” said Godinho.
“Gaude has agreed to renovate the indoor complex post-monsoon so that the badminton and other sports facilities are at par with the newly built ground," said Godinho.
