Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude on Tuesday said government departments presently occupying the Ravindra Bhavan Baina (RBB) would have to vacate the premises, once it becomes fully functional for art and culture activities.Gaude was speaking to reporters after a joint inspection along with Vasco MLA Krishna (Daji) Salkar and RBB Chairman Jayant Jadhav to review the non-functional AC plant in the premises, which had led to the closure of the auditorium of RBB.
"The RBB is an institution to promote art and culture, but due to some reasons amid the pandemic, we could not float a tender to repair the AC plant here and the work was delayed.”
“With the auditorium not functional due to AC issues, many government departments which were earlier housed in the MMC building have shifted here as the Mormugao Municipal Council building is being renovated,” said Gaude.
“However, these offices will have to shift elsewhere once the AC issue is resolved and the RBB becomes fully functional. I have already issued directives on this issue.”
The minister expressed his apologies to all artistes and art lovers because the RBB could not be used for art and cultural activities.
“However, I want to assure everyone that the issue will be resolved very soon. We will take up the issue of maintenance of all such institutions with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, so that places like the Kala Mandir, Kala Academy and Ravindra Bhavan gets better infrastructure," said Gaude.
