VASCO
Vasco BJP MLA-elect Krishna Daji Salkar on Saturday said that he will be taking up the Vasco bus stand project on top priority along with underground cabling and road works.
Speaking to reporters, Salkar said that the prime reason for his victory with a significant margin was the frustration in people's minds as to why only Vasco missed out on development works and assured the people that he will try to make Vasco a presentable city, at par with international cities, by bringing in development works.
"We had indicated that there was no development in Vasco, and people have given me a chance to complete the pending works and take up other works. The main priority will, however, be the Kadamba bus stand project, which has been the demand of Vascokars for 10 long years. We already had a meeting, and I have placed this proposal to the chief minister that Vasco is lagging by 10 years, and we need special attention from him. We will take up the issues of Vasco before the government, and I am confident that it will support us," said Salkar.
Salkar added that one of his dream projects was to restore and beautify the Maimollem lake.
"If the Centre and State allocate the funds, I want to take up the beautification and restoration of the Maimollem lake. It is a beautiful lake but neglected, and we have also seen that sewerage flows into the lake. If we take the cleanliness of this lake and beautify it with a compound wall, it can be an attraction and relaxation point for Vasco, and also bring back a lot of birds to the lake," said Salkar.
Salkar added that the other major issues on top priority will be road works and underground cabling of electrical wires.
"We will also look into the salary issues of the Mormugao Municipal Council. I have had a detailed discussion with the MMC Chief Officer and listened to some of his suggestions. I will approach the Urban Development Minister after the government is formed in this regard," said Salkar.
