New Vasco fish market to be inaugurated by Nov end

VASCO

Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Friday said the new Vasco fish market would be inaugurated by November end.

Salkar was speaking to reporters after launching the works on pavers at Belabai in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council MMC Chairperson and Ward Councillor Girish Borker.

“The Vasco fish market is almost ready and final touches to the project will be completed before October. We have had a joint and final meeting with the Fish Market vendors to know their small needs like the placement of cold storage, their seating arrangement, place for fish cutters etc. We plan to inaugurate the new fish market by November end,” said Salkar.

SWATANTRA PATH

The Vasco MLA said the entire Swatantra Path will have a total revamp.

“We will spend around Rs 12 crore and turn the entire Swatantra Path into a total new street. The street will have a total makeover with new footpaths, new barricades and even new trees. The gutters along the road will also be deepened for smooth flow of drainage,” said Salkar.

“We have already taken up works on underground cabling and we have now begun the works on a dedicated pipeline so that the road need not be damaged for new water supply connection in the future.”

“These works will start by October end and be completed by March next year, ahead of the Monsoons. This project will give a total new look to Vasco city as well,” said Salkar.

OTHER PROJECTS

Salkar said the pavers at Belabai are being laid at a cost of Rs 12.5 lakh.

“The pavers will be laid for across 300 metres in this entire area and this work will be completed before Ganesh Chaturthi. We are also launched the works to elevate road at Orulem and also building a new Culvert there,” said Salkar.

“Due to heavy monsoons, other works like hotmixing will start in October and all roads in this entire ward will be taken up to develop a good infrastructure in the area.”

“We are also planning to set up two sewerage pumping stations in this area which never had a sewage network and the projects are in the tendering stage presently.”
