NGO cleans Mala spring
PANAJI: YUVA, an NGO association from Panaji carried out the cleaning of the Fonte Phoenix (Mala spring) on the occasion of World Heritage Day as well as part of their on-going Swachh Bharat Nitoll Goem programme.
Over 25 members of YUVA, along with personnel of the Fire Services and laborers carried out the cleaning of this ancient spring which is an architectural touristic attraction with its underground tunnels. For many years this spring has not been attended to and mud, dirt and garbage had piled up making it an eye-sore and breeding ground for mosquitoes.
The source of the spring water as well as the pathway till the outlet was cleaned. MLA of Panaji, Sidharth Kuncalienkar was present at the programme and inspected the spring along with members of YUVA, Mihir Agshikar and Ashok Patil.
