It’s one battle but two different platforms. The Congress as well as the group of MLAs led by Goa Forward mentor Vijai Sardesai sang the same tune but from different platforms at more or less the same time decrying the BJP government’s move to nationalise Goa’s rivers without as much informing anybody or taking the people of Goa into confidence over its decision.
While the Congress’ Reginaldo Lourenço was part of a “joint opposition” grouping which besides Sardesai also had Atanasio “Babush” Monserrate and José Philip D’Souza as part of the grouping, Lourenço’s party president was saying the same things at the Congress office.
Reginaldo on the other hand insisted that he had no differences with the party president and that it is only good that his party president had also raised issue over the government’s decision.
“It was not a Goa Forward press conference. It was a press conference of the combined opposition. I am with the party,” Lourenço said adding that he was “not aware” that Luizinho would be addressing a press conference on the same issue.
“If he were to call me, I would have gone there,”
he said.
