No power supply to most parts of South Goa on December 17

There will be no power supply in entire South Goa, barring some areas, on December 17 from 7 am to 3 pm.

Reason: The Electricity Department has planned shutdown for maintenance of EHV sub-stations in South Goa at 220K Xeldem substation, 220KV Cuncolim sub-station and 110KV Verna S/S 220KV and 110 KV EHV (Extra Hig Voltage) interstate and intrastate lines on Sunday, December 17, from 7 am to 3 pm. Hence there will be no power supply during the above period in entire South Goa except major parts of Ponda Taluka and areas of Raia, Curtorim, Loutolim and Macazana.

Areas affected by the power shut down includes the entire talukas of Canacona, Salcete (except Raia, Curtorim, Loutolim and Macazana), Sanguem, Quepem, Mormugao and part of Dharbandora taluka i.e. VP Kirlapal-Dabal, Shigao-Collem, Mollem and Part of Ponda taluka i.e. VP Panchwadi and all Industrial Estates of South Goa and Salaulim water works at Xelpem.

The Power Department has said this annual shutdown is purely for maintenance of 220KV and 110 KV EHV interstate and intrastate lines and EHV substation at Xeldem, Cuncolim and Verna.
