Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has assured that work on the flyover near Dabolim is progressing well, with only minor delays in a few sections due to clearance requirements.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Godinho said authorities are checking whether the flyover’s height complies with Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS) rules. If the height meets regulations, work will continue as planned. If adjustments are needed, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will modify it in consultation with the Airport Authority of India and the Indian Navy.

“There is no question of stopping the flyover or halting Goa’s development,” he said.

Godinho criticised South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes without naming him, accusing him of misleading people. He said some “negative elements” were trying to create unnecessary controversy but had failed to gain public support.

“They take a small issue and exaggerate it. They expected a big outcry, but people have lost trust in them. The public believes in the Goa government and supports development,” he said.

The minister also questioned whether these critics cared about the heavy traffic from the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), which could affect Dabolim residents and increase the risk of accidents.

“Do they want traffic jams at every junction, causing problems for residents? Either they don’t understand or they are deliberately spreading negativity against good projects,” Godinho said.

He reaffirmed that the flyover is an important infrastructure project to ease congestion and improve road connectivity. The government, he added, is fully committed to completing it as planned.
