No respite to spike in Covid cases in Bardez, above 90 tests positive

MAPUSA

Covid cases continued to gallop with over 90 persons reporting positive for the infection in Bardez on Tuesday.

In Mapusa, 24 persons tested positive while 20 were detected with the infection in Aldona. Similarly, 19 positive cases were reported in Candolim, 17 in Siolim and 15 in Colvale.

Eight persons each tested positive in Peddem and Feira Alta while two cases each were reported in Housing Board and Xelpem.

Similarly, one person each got the infection in Carrasvaddo, Mapusa sub-yard, Talivaddo and in Khorlim.

Health Officer at Mapusa Urban Health Centre Dr Cheryl de Sousa informed that the cases were widespread as many more areas have been coming under the influence of the disease.

Aldona primary health centre reported 20 positive cases “ Nachinola (9), Aldona (6), Pomburpa (2), Bastora (2) and Corjuem (1).

“Several persons who belong to one family have reported the infection. In some areas, migrants who usually use a common toilet have contracted Covid,” said Dr Pritam Naik, Health Officer of Aldona PHC.

Health Officer of Candolim primary health centre, Dr Roshan Nazareth informed that 19 cases were reported from his jurisdiction “ Calangute (4), Pilerne (1), Reis Magos (7), Nerul (3), Sangolda (1), Saligao (2) and Arpora (1).

In Siolim, 17 persons tested positive for the disease with six persons each getting infected at Assagao and Verla-Canca.

Similarly, three persons tested positive in Siolim and two in Parra.

Dr Damodar Narvenkar, Health Officer at Colvale primary health centre informed that 15 persons tested positive in Colvale jurisdiction “ Colvale (6), Tivim (5), Revora (3) and Nadora (1).

UPSURGE CONTINUES

- 24 tested positive in Mapusa  - 8 each in Peddem and Feira Alta, 2 each in Housing Board and Xelpem, 1 each in Carrasvaddo, Mapusa sub-yard, Talivaddo and Khorlim

- 20 cases at Aldona PHC - Nachinola (9), Aldona (6), Pomburpa (2), Bastora (2) and Corjuem (1)
