NOMOZO is people's festival, will help curb pollution: MLA

The Tourism Minister  Rohan Khaunte inaugurated NOMOZO  4.0 programme by releasing balloons in the air in the presence of Aldona MLA Carlos Fereira , Saligao MLA Kedar Naik , BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Tourism Director Abhishek ,Managing Director of GTDC Brijesh Manerkar , ZP member Kavita Naik, sarpanch of Penha de Franca Swapnil Chodankar and panch members of Penha de Franca, Soccorro and Salvador do Mundo.This programme was organised  by Porvorim Rising.

The service road wore a festive look as thousands of people participated in this unique programme. There were more than 50 stalls comprising of Goan food, pottery, home decor. artifacts,  snacks, jewellery, soft drinks, gift articles, bhelpuri, snacks, etc. The youths presented various Indian and Western dances and entertained the crowd. There was live demonstrations of sports like karate, zumba, etc.

While speaking on this occasion, Rohan Khaunte stated that NOMOZO is people's festival . "Goa is a place for communal harmony .The aim of organizing this NOMOZO is to  bring together all the sections of the society regardless of religion, caste and culture and foster the spirit of unity and enhance social bonding. I always believed in inclusive development . People's participation is equally important in such programmes. Further cycling is a good exercise. It not only saves valuable fuel but also reduces traffic congestion and does not  create air pollution. The children with special needs has been provided a separate platform. Goa is tourism destination. Not only Indian and foreign tourists but also locals can participate in this unique programme. Further such type of programme presents platform for youth to display their talents too .This unique programme has become successful because of participation of  people," Khaunte said.

Aldona MLA Carlos Fereira said that Khaunte is not only a dynamic leader but he is also visionary leader. "His thoughts are unique which is why No Motor Zone has become very popular in Goa .This programme will bring all sections of society together and foster sense of unity," said Fereira.

Saligao MLA Kedar Naik, BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade , Tourism Director Abhishek  and Managing Director of Tourism Brijesh Manerkar also spoke on this occasion.

The sarpanch of Penha de Franca Swapnil chodankar welcomed the gathering.
