Jose Manuel Noronha, Chairman, Goa Public Service commission was appointed as Chairman of the standing committee of Chairpersons of public service commissions (PSC) at Thiruvanantapuram, Kerala during the national conference held there from April 15-16.
He took over from Dr Dinesh Dasa, Chairman Gujarat Public Service commission who retired in January this year and BBC will hold the position for a period of three years.
The conference was inaugurated by Governor of Kerala Arif M Khan and had Chief minister of Kerala as chief guest at the valedictory and was attended by Dr Manoj Soni, Chairman UPSC besides all chairpersons of PSC’s.
The Standing committee comprises nine members, of whom, 1/3rd retire every year and the new members to be inducted are nominated by the Chairman, Union Public Service Commission who is the ex-officio Chairman of National Conference.
The Composition of the present Standing Committee as decided in the National Conference will have Noronha as chairman and chairpersons of West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttarakhand as members.
The standing committee meets every quarter to decide on issues concerning state PSC’s placed before it including following up on decisions taken by the national conference.
