“Power suspensions by electricity department have become the norm, a part of daily existence. Prolonged outages pose a severe inconvenience and have become irritating,” said Panjikar.
He said the department should find permanent solution for the power failures in a world were technology rules the roost.
“The department should engage well-maintained power system and should use standard electrical equipments,” he said.
People took to social media to condemn the shutdown and poor quality of work by the department. “There’s power shutdown almost every day. So we don’t care whether it is on Sunday or any day,” said Navin Kole in an Aldona-based WhatsApp group.
One Salvador from the same group said: “Goans are looted. This is organized crime.”
