Secretary Power, Sanjay Goyal IAS, who was the Chief Guest, initiated the discussion by presenting the salient features of the Goa State Solar Policy that is currently in the process of being notified. “Solar power plants will be classified in two categories, namely up to 100 KW with LT connection and more than 100 KW with HT connection. The LT consumers will be feeding power to the grid in gross metering basis, whereas the HT consumers will be compulsorily supplying power to the grid on net metering basis. Both the types of power suppliers will be paid at the JERC stipulated rates,” informed Goyal.
The large solar installations solely for power sale will have to undergo bidding process for being competitive. Dr Pramod Pathak, ex-Member Secretary, Goa Energy Development Agency, elaborated on the various aspects of installations and operation of the solar plants.
Yogesh Naik of Greenfield Technologies gave a presentation on the technical and commercial aspects of the solar installations and their maintenance. A Ganesan, Chief Mechanical Engineer, MPT, presented a review of the performance and high efficiency of the 200 KW Solar PV plant which the port has set up in its premises.
Durairaj of GCCI said solar power cost works out much lower which makes it economically feasible. He urged the participants to go for solar power.
At the end of the workshop, question-answer session brought up some important queries.
