The shutdown will be from 7 am to 4 pm.
“A general shutdown has been arranged on Sunday (May 28) for annual maintenance works at 220/110/33/11KV substation at Tivim. The entire areas of Bardez and Pernem talukas will be affected during the outage,” said Allan Pinto, Executive Engineer, Tivim substation.
The proposed shutdown has been tentatively approved by the Superintending Engineer, Electrical Circle II (North) to undertake the annual maintenance works.
The department has made arrangements to supply power to Panaji and Tiswadi talukas from Ponda substation, while Bicholim taluka will avail power supply from Amona substation on that day.
The department will carry out a complete checkup of the lines and undertake jobs like greasing of isolators, examining the ‘red hot’ jumpers, topping of oil in transformers, checking the alignment, etc.
“We will basically focus on the high tension lines. The maintenance works have to be carried out before the monsoons,” Pinto said.
Other power station officials are likely to take the opportunity of the shutdown to take up station work.
