Three idols from Morjim temple desecrated

Miscreants desecrated three ancient idols carved on a stone at Shree Veer Mandir near Shree Morjai Temple at Morjim on Wednesday.

According to Pernem Police, the Morjai temple committee president Gopal Shetgaonkar on Wednesday evening complained that the idols at the Veer temple were desecrated. The police rushed to the site and conducted the panchanama.   
Later in the evening, the police pressed a dog squad and finger print expert into service, informed the police.   
According to the temple committee members, some rituals were scheduled at Shree Veer temple at 3 pm on Wednesday, but when they went to the temple to perform the rituals, they found all three idols desecrated.   
The temple committee members said there is no power connection to the temple and no one enters the 
temple. “It is difficult to say at what time the incident took place,” said a committee member.   
Pernem Police is investigating further into the matter.

Bardez, Pernem power shutdown on May 28

The electricity department has arranged a power shutdown for entire Bardez and Pernem talukas on May 28 to carry out its annual pre-monsoon maintenance works.

MAPUSA    The shutdown will be from 7 am to 4 pm.   “A general shutdown has been arranged on Sunday (May 28) for annual maintenance works at 220/110/33/11KV substation at Tivim.
