Former Chief Minister and Poriem MLA Pratapsing Rane on Saturday informed that there was nothing political in the visit of BJP State President and Rajya Sahba MP Vinay Tendulkar and BJP General Secretary Sadanand Tanawade’s visit to his residence recently.
Senior Rane said he was attending a function to celebrate Tripurari Purnima at his family temple which is close to his old residence in Vithalapur, Sakhalim. Tendulkar and Tanawade were invited for the function as guests by the organisers. Since his residence is behind the temple, BJP leaders visited him like the many people come to visit him.
The former CM emphasised that there was nothing political about the visit and it was a courtesy visit by the BJP leaders.
Goan political circles were abuzz with speculation after the news of BJP leaders’ visit to senior Rane’s old residence became known.
On asked about the protest meet called by the Citizens for Restoration For Governance in Goa at Azad Maidan on Saturday to demand CM’s handover of portfolios to some other minister, Senior Rane said, “It is an internal matter. Whatever is to be said, I’ll say it in the assembly. It is unfortunate that he is not well... it would have been wise to handover the charge and rest.”
