A day after he held discussions with Cabinet colleagues and top bureaucrats in Delhi, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is expected to return to Goa on Sunday morning after nearly three-weeks of treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
Sources said, Parrikar, who’s coalition government has been facing intense criticism from Opposition and other quarters alleging mal-administration and functional paralysis due to his absence in Goa, will be discharged from AIIMS and will fly back to the State.
He will be accompanied by his son and is expected to be driven straight to his private residence in Dona Paula from the Dabolim airport.
On Friday, Parrikar addressed the first official meeting since he was admitted to AIIMS on September 15.
The chief minister who was diagnosed with a serious pancreatic ailment in February last, was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi on September 14 by a special aircraft arranged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has stayed under treatment at the premier medical institution since then.
Recently, the opposition Congress party raised questions over the stability of the government due to Parrikar’s health issues. Some Congress legislators had met Governor Mridula Sinha and staked claim to form a government by means of being the single-largest party in the State.
