Winds of instability have again hit the 11-member Curtorim village panchayat as six panchayat members of the panchayat body have tabled a no-trust motion against Deputy Sarpanch Isabela Gomes e Rebello.
In the notice, the six signatories to the motion, Rui Menezes, Judas Simon Barretto, Nicholas Paes, Albertina Menezes, Shubhangi Prabhu and Akshata L Korgaonkar accused the Deputy Sarpanch of non-cooperative attitude in implementing developmental works. The signatories also charged her of not taking members into confidence while taking decisions, adding that she has not been attending the regular monthly meetings and gram sabhas.
Interestingly, the opposition had in the past tried to dislodge the Sarpanch Rupesh Naik, but the no-confidence motion against him had come a cropper after the ruling BJP top leadership bailed out the Sarpanch by persuading a signatory to back out.
