PONDA
While authorities have been investigating the recent hill cutting activity at Dharbandora, they have also focused their attention on illegal stone quarrying activity in Sancorda.
Officials from the mines department raided a stone quarry on Monday afternoon. They were later present at Collem police station to file a complaint.
Locals, however, alleged that illegal stone quarry activity is going on with political patronage and support of government officials.
According to sources, the quarry operator was tipped that the officials were proceeding to raid the stone quarry and all equipment at the quarry were moved out by the time the officials reached the site.
As a result, the officials of the mining department, the talathi and a police team could not seize any machinery.
According to locals, the stone quarry was being operated full swing during the monsoon season.
