Fed up with the ‘exorbitant’ rates charged by local taxi operators in Goa, an online petition to be submitted to State Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is soliciting signatures in a bid to convince the chief minister that taxi aggregators Ola and Uber should be allowed to set up shop in the state.

Within nine hours of it going public, the petition had gathered more than 1578 signatories.
The petition initiated by one Mahesh Sardesai, lists the advantages of the cab aggregators and blames the high rates by local taxis as being a blot on a renowned tourism destination such as Goa.
“Tourism is the backbone of Goa’s economy and tourists across the world and India are used to services like OLA/UBER.
