On walking journey to Mecca for Hajj, Keralite makes halt in Goa

Shihab Chottur, a youth from Kerala, reached Goa on Sunday morning in his self-challenge to reach Mecca Medina in Saudi Arabia on foot and perform Hajj in 2023.

Shihab Chottur reached Karwar late Saturday night and arrived in Goa on Sunday morning.

He was welcomed at Mahamaya Petrol Pump at Polem with a flower garland, after which he took up his walking pilgrimage, took an afternoon halt at Gulem and then crossed Cuncolim and reached Margao.

One Ashraf from Sadashivgad (Karwar), who had accompanied him to Goa, informed that he will take the coastal state route through Gujarat to reach Wagah Border and cross over to Pakistan. Later, from Pakistan, he will move to Iran, cross Iraq and Kuwait and then enter Saudi Arabia.

''After a year in 2023, walking through five countries, scaling 8640 km, he on reaching Saudi Arabia will perform Hajj at Mecca Medina," said Hassan Shaikh, who reached Polem border to welcome the youth on foot pilgrimage.
