One dies in Mapusa accident
MAPUSA: A two-wheeler rider was fatally knocked down in a road mishap in Mapusa on Friday morning.
Mapusa Police informed that the deceased, Uttam Gaude (62) from Chicalim was riding an Activa scooter (GA-07-B-6557) and was in front of a bus (GA-02-T-4828). Both were proceeding from Duler to Mapusa.
On reaching the Duler climb, Gaude suddenly slowed down and the bus which was close behind dashed him and knocked him down. With the impact, the deceased fell down and came under the rear tyre of the bus.
Mapusa Police moved him to the North Goa District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
The bus driver, Divakar Tukaram Pednekar, has been arrested in this connection.
Head Constable Ricky Fernandes conducted the panchanama and sent the body for a post mortem. PSI Alvito Rodrigues is conducting further investigation.
