Garbage at Sonsodo catches fire
MARGAO: Garbage at Sonsodo caught fire at noon on Friday, but timely intervention by fire brigade extinguished the fire in time.
According to fire officials, the fire office received a call at around 2.40 pm on Friday after which they rushed to the spot with a fire tender. The fire was soon brought under control and extinguished,” said fire officer Babuso Parit.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Theft at auto showroom at Panzorconi
MARGAO: Unidentified culprits effected entry into an auto showroom at Panzorconi and decamped with cash of Rs 2,000 and caused damage to the showroom pegged at around Rs 55,000.
According to Cuncolim police, the incident occurred on Thursday night but came to light on Friday morning when the owner of the showroom went to open it in the morning at around 9.20 am.
Police said the culprits entered the showroom by breaking open the window grill. Once inside, they disconnected all CCTV connections and thereafter made good their escape with cash amount of Rs 2,000. They also caused damage to the showroom.
Cuncolim police have registered an offence under Sections 454, 457 and 380 of IPC. Further investigations are in progress.
