MAPUSA: One person was arrested and 1 kg of ganja worth Rs 1 lakh was seized from him in Siolim, police informed.
The accused has been identified as Ajit Kumar Gupta (28), who is a native of Bihar.
Anjuna Police received information that a male would be visiting a spot at Uddo beach, Siolim to deliver a narcotic substance to a prospective customer.
“Acting on the specific information we laid a trap and apprehended the accused red-handed. After conducting a search we found ganja weighing 1 kg in his possession,” a police official informed.
“The accused has been remanded to police custody and investigation is on to find the source of the narcotic drug,” the officer added.
Anjuna Police have registered the offence against the accused under the NDPS Act 1985.
Further investigation is in progress under the Supervision of Anjuna PI Prashal Desai under the overall supervision of SDPO Mapusa, Jivba Dalvi and SP North Nidhin Valsan (IPS).
