Power Minister Nilesh Cabral on Tuesday informed that one-time settlement (OTS) scheme of Electricity department for payment of outstanding electricity bill charges will be operational from December 1, 2020.
The scheme will be applicable for one month period only from December 1.
Outstanding power bills (upto October 13, 2020) can be paid with full or part-waiver of delayed payment charges (DPC).
As per the scheme, the consumer has to only pay the principal amount and the delayed payment charges will be waived off in full or part depending upon the time slab selected for payment. Around Rs 412 crore, including Rs 320 crore principal amount and Rs 92 crore delay payment charges is outstanding from various power consumers including domestic.
The Electricity Department will soon start the online system for accepting and processing applications for an increase in load, correction in name, correction in an address on power connection bills.
The department has already started an online system for the new power connection, said Cabral and added that the process will add more transparency and there will be a monitoring system to track the pendency of applications.
Cabral dares AAP over power bills claims
PANAJI: Stating that AAP is raising issues without studying, Power Minister Cabral said that the party is making a false allegation of rise in electricity bills.
Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA) charges fluctuate in every quarter to some extent as fuel prices change and accordingly it reflects in the bill rate changes to some extent.
“This does not mean the electricity prices have increased,” explained Cabral and said ‘the actual rate which is increased for the first 0-100 is just 0.08 paisa per unit’.
While objecting to AAP spokesperson claim that Delhi electricity rates are better than Goa, Cabral emphasised that the electricity rates slab-wise are much better than Delhi. “For the first 100 units the rate in Goa is just Rs 140 while Goa also gives direct beneficial social schemes unlike Delhi,” he said.
