Goa Forward Party has filed a criminal complaint against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Chief Secretary of Goa Parimal Rai and Nodal officer for oxygen management Swetika Sachan for gross negligence in supply of oxygen leading to deaths of Covid patients undergoing treatment in Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
John Nazareth, Convener of Goa Forward has filed a complaint before the Agassaim police station and demanded action to be taken against the accused under Sections 336, 337, 338, 304A read with Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 188 of the Epidemic Disease Act 1897.
However, police have not yet registered the FIR in the cases. The complainant claims that 72 deaths have occurred at GMC due to rash and negligent acts of not providing an uninterrupted supply of oxygen and other medical facilities such as ventilators. The 26 deaths are attributed directly to the short supply of oxygen from 2 am to 6 am.
The complainant has said that the Health Minister, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in their press statements have stated that deaths have occurred due to lack of oxygen supply at GMC.
Many patients’ relatives have also blamed authorities that their relatives have died as there was no oxygen supply from 2 am to 6 am.
