The Fatorda police on Thursday filed the chargesheet in the Anwar Sheikh attempt to murder case.
Fatorda police station in charge PI Kapil Nayak told the media that the chargesheet has been filed against the eight accused allegedly involved in the case.
Running into over 200 pages, the chargesheet has cited 28 witnesses in support of the case of the prosecution.
The attempt to murder Anwar Sheikh alias Tiger Anwar, who is a history-sheeter as per the police records, had hit the headlines over a month ago when a group of accused attempted to murder the victim in broad daylight near the Arlem circle.
The victim was shot on his leg but Anwar was saved from the murderous assault due to the timely intervention by Superintendent of Police, Konkan Railway police station, Sammy Tavares.
SP Tavares was travelling on the Eastern bypass in a police vehicle when he stopped the gang attacking Anwar with weapons.
