Panaji police crack prostitution racket; 3 girls rescued

In a raid conducted by Panaji Police on Monday near Bainguinim valley, Dona Paula, three girls, all natives of Delhi, and aged between 21 and 29 years, were rescued. Three accused were also arrested.

The racket was run by the main accused Ayush Kumar, who is absconding.

Police have arrested Durga Bahadur Bhandari and Kisan Bahadur Bhandari, who were working as caretakers in the bungalow at Porvorim where the victims were allegedly kept by the accused.

According to the police, on Monday, between 8.45 pm and 10.10 pm, the accused procured the girls from other states and attempted to supply them to prospective customers through the accused, Santa Bahadur Chetri, a native of Nepal.

Chetri, presently residing at Porvorim, was caught red-handed while delivering the girls to the decoy customer set up by Panaji Police at Donapaula.

Police have seized the vehicle in which the victims were brought, and also sealed the bungalow.

The victims have been lodged at the Merces protective home.

Panaji Police have registered the complaint under Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 of The Immoral Traffic Prevention (ITP) Act, 1956 and under Section 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave) of IPC.
