The Cavelossim village panchayat has issued a stop work order to the ongoing work on a resort on grounds that the work is being carried out in violation of the CRZ norms.
The action comes following complaints received from locals and also videos circulating on the social media that the Mumbai-based resort has violating the CRZ guidelines.
Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz told the media that the resort has the permission from TCP for a compound wall and bio fencing in the CRZ area.
He, however, hastened to add that while barricading the area, it was found that they used cement which violates the CRZ regulations.
“The Panchayat had earlier issued a show cause notice to the resort”, he said.
He said the panchayat has observed that steel sheets with steel pillars affixed with concrete have been used in the NDZ area, adding that the party has been directed to stop the activity in NDZ area and restore it to the original condition.
The Panchayat has warned of further action under sub section 4 of Section 66 of the Goa Panchayat Raj act if the party fails to comply within 15 days from the date of receipt of the notice.
