'Paralysed' health centre dominates Assolda meet

Expressing concern over the dilapidated state of the sub-health centre in the village, the Assolda locals have demanded immediate repairs and renovation of the sub-health centre and to make it functional.
At the Assolda-Xelvon and Hoder gram sabha on Sunday, the villagers raised the issue of the sub-health centre, which has been lying paralysed for many years. The locals said the existing machinery from the centre has been shifted to private rented premises at Xelvon and demanded to repair and renovate the old sub health centre building.
Sarpanch Dayanand Naik said a letter regarding the bad condition of the sub health centre and requesting immediate repairs was sent to the ZP office long back. “About two years back, the work for repair and renovation was tendered, but there has been no development at the ground level. There is no reply till date from the ZP,” he added.
Some locals raised objection over the controversial developing of plots at Hoder and demanded not to allow any concrete development in the plots. They raised fear that if the plots are used for construction of buildings, then people residing in these plots will create problem for Assolda locals while performing the last rites at Hindu crematorium, which is in the immediate neighbourhood of these plots.
The panchayat adopted a resolution that no construction licenses will be issued to these plots.
Erecting concrete electricity poles and new electricity live wire connection near Hindu crematorium was also discussed during the gram sabha.
Other resolutions taken included construction of retaining wall at a sharp curve at Hoder. Biodiversity committee was also formed during the gram sabha.
