He was speaking at the 60th birthday celebration of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar organised by the State BJP in Panaji. With the statement Parrikar has indirectly hinted at Parsekar leading BJP during the upcoming assembly polls.
Nearly 5000 BJP workers and supporters gathered at the venue to witness the function.
Addressing the gathering, Parrikar said, “Respecting the decision of the party, he sacrificed the ministry and took over the presidentship of the party during the 2000 assembly polls and BJP came to power. As we won the election under his presidentship, the party once again decided to appoint him as the president prior to 2012 elections and we formed the government. Now he is the chief minister of the State, so it is his responsibility to bring BJP to power once again.”
Speaking further, he stated that even if there is criticism, his visits to Goa will never stop.
“Even if there is opposition and hue and cry, my visits to Goa will not stop. I will always keep a watch on Goa. My political source of energy is Goa. I will definitely work in Delhi but my roots will always be in here. I cannot be a Delhiite politically,” he said assuring to give whatever support the State needs under the leadership of Parsekar.
Speaking earlier, Chief Minister Laxmiknat Parsekar said he was confident of peoples’ support during the upcoming assembly polls.
He said, “I was in my constituency the entire day on Monday. I had also realised that after I became the CM of the State, my constituency was being neglected as I used to be in Panaji most of the time. But after I witnessed the overwhelming response of people yesterday, I have no doubts. I am confident that people are with me.”
AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar, BJP MLAs and ministers were those present on the occasion.
