Hailing what he described as a landslide performance by the BJP in West Bengal and Assam, Sawant said the results reflect growing public faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Addressing the victory celebration in Panaji, Sawant asserted that the outcome would translate into electoral success for the party in Goa as well as in the 2029 Lok Sabha polls. “I thank the people of West Bengal and Assam for the support shown to the BJP. These results are a testimony that the BJP will form the government in Goa with a clear majority in 2027 and that the NDA will return to power in 2029,” Sawant said.
He further claimed that voters in Tamil Nadu and Kerala have also shown increasing support to the BJP, indicating a broader national trend.
Earlier in the day, Sawant congratulated Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the electoral performance. He also acknowledged the contribution of local leadership and party workers in West Bengal.
Sawant alleged that the BJP’s victory in West Bengal came despite challenges faced by party workers and credited the leadership of Modi for strengthening the party’s position in the state. He also said the results send a strong message against corruption and illegal practices.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP state president Damodar Naik said the party’s strong showing in West Bengal was the result of sustained organisational efforts and leadership at the highest level.
Naik also alleged that BJP workers faced difficulties during the campaign due to actions by supporters of the Trinamool Congress, but persisted with their outreach efforts. “This victory belongs to the party workers who continued their work despite challenges,” he added.
