According to patients, hospital toilets are choked, medical waste has been lying unattended and beds of the patients are not clean and without linen.
Patients on condition of anonymity told The Goan that the OPD does not cater to patients at the specified time, while they have to make arrangements for their own linen once they are allotted beds.
"We have been witness to several arguments in a day that rake up among the staff and patients or their visitors," said a patient.
"When we question hospital staff about these problems, they simply tell us that the State government is building a new district hospital in the premises of CCH which will provide better health-related services to patients from Mormugao taluka."
When contacted, CCH Health Officer Rajendra Borkar admitted that the toilets were choked as contractors of the new district hospital had dumped concrete waste and mud in the chambers by mistake.
"So far, we have cleared three chambers. The monsoon has aggravated the choking of toilets and other issues plaguing the hospital," he added.
He, however, insisted that the OPD has been catering to patients on time and also sought to explain the shortage of linen.
"The hospital has suffered losses in the past, as the linen provided to patients was not returned to the hospital. Hence, we do not provide linen till the bed is allotted to patients," he said. "I recently took charge of the hospital and I assure that I will sort out all the issues which are causing problem to the patients at CCH," he assured.
