The issue of pay hike between ACGL workers and the company management came to a conclusion late last night with the company agreeing to sign the pay hike agreement on March 8.

The issue of pay hike has been going on for the last four years at ACGL with the workers union of the company under the guidance of the Maharashtra Navnirman Kamgar Sangh finally issuing a notice to go on indefinite strike if a hike was not implemented.

As the deadline for the strike approached, some labor leaders met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and demanded that he intervene in the matter.

As of Saturday night, however, the issue has finally come to an end with the company responding positively to the workers' pay hike.

Although no official information has been received from the union in this regard, according to sources, it is understood that the company has agreed to increase the salary by 5,500 for four years from 2018, besides granting previous arrears and other benefits, as well as the next two-year contract.

“The contract will be for three years as agreed,” informed a source.

“The agreement will be signed by both the parties on March 8,” said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant after a joint meeting with the company CEO O V Ajay, CFO Bhutelo, HR Department Manager Prakash Naik, President of both the unions Gunaji Parab, Bablo Sawant and other office bearers of the union and office bearers of Maharashtra Navnirman Kamgar Sena held at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim late Saturday night.
