Insisting that the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) has managed to retain the trust of the people in Goa, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said the party had created a history of sorts by ensuring at least one legislator during every Assembly election that was held in the State.

Dhavalikar was addressing a gathering in Farmagudi on Saturday morning while paying tribute to Goa's first Chief Minister Dayanand Balkrishna Bandodkar, widely known as Bhausaheb, on his 105th birth anniversary.

Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar, Bandora deputy sarpanch Santosh Phadate, councillor Venkatesh Naik, Kavale sarpanch Rajesh Kavalkekar, MGP Ponda block president Anil Naik and others were present on the occasion.

“MGP has always served the people of Goa, and in future too, the party will work for the betterment of Goans. The people of Goa trust the MGP, and hence, they have elected at least one MLA to the Goa Assembly during every assembly election,” Dhavalikar said.

“Bhausaheb contributed immensely for the MGP and for the people of Goa. His aim and vision was to ensure overall development of Goa, which he succeeded by spearheading a revolution in the field of education. Hence, it is our responsibility to remember this person of great stature,” Dhavalikar said.
