Panchayat Minister Rajendra Arlekar on Thursday assured to renovate the old heritage building of the ruined Excise department at Pernem.
Arlekar was speaking to reporters during the inspection of the Excise department building.
“The plan of the building will be the same as the old one. One floor will be constructed and the building will be equipped with all modern technology facilities,” he said.
“The work will be taken up by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) and there are plans to shift other government offices once the building is renovated,” added Arlekar.
“The foundation stone for renovation work will be laid after 2 months,” said Arlekar.
Pernem Municipal Council Chairperson Smita Kudtarkar, vice-chairperson Upendra Deshprabhu, GSIDC official Satyandra Pawar, consultant Pankaj Joshi, commissioner of excise Ashok Rane and others were present on the occasion.
