The Pilerne panchayat has built a Ganapati Visarjan Sabha Mandap at Maina-Pilerne at a cost of Rs 35 lakh from the panchayat funds.
Pilerne-Marra Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar inaugurated the Mandap at Maina-Pillerne in the presence of ZP member Rupesh Naik, Attorney of Pillerne Comunidade Stefen D’Mello and Panch members Karan Govekar, Sandeep Bandodkar, Brenda Vaz, Raj Malik and Pramila Govekar.
“During the Ganesh visarjan ceremony, residents would sit on the road to recite bhajans. Following the request of residents, the panchayat decided to construct this Sabha Mandap on comunidade land at Maine,” said the sarpanch.
“The panchayat built this Ganapti Visarjan Sabha Mandap at a cost of Rs 35 lakh from the Panchayat fund. The construction was possible as the Pilerne comunidade gave its permission to the project without any hesitation.”
The sarpanch stated that during the last two years, the panchayat has undertaken several development works, including the beautification of Savlem spring, sitting arrangement at Savlem lake, badminton court behind the Chodankar hospital and a stage at Mae de dues chapel.
“The panchayat also donated Rs 5 lath to the flood-affected people of Kerala. The panchayat believes in promoting development of the village with the active participation of residents,” said the sarpanch.
ZP member Rupesh Naik said residents should always advise the panchayat about the development work to be carried out in the village.
“During the last three-and-half years, I have spent around Rs 1.25 crore on development works in Pilerne, Reis Magos, Nerul and Sangolda villages,” said Naik.
Attorney of Pilerne Communidade Stephen D’Mello also spoke on the occasion and assured full cooperation of the comundiade in development activities of the panchayat.
