Goa Forward Party Supremo and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Monday asserted that he is neither in touch with the Congress leadership nor has any of the Congress leaders approached him for support to form an alternate government in the State.

Sardesai told The Goan that he and the Goa Forward MLAs are part of the coalition government headed by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, adding that they are very much part of the Parrikar-led government.

In fact, Goa Forward leaders have accused the Congress leadership of trying to fish in troubled waters, saying the Opposition party is out to create confusion amongst the coalition partners by spreading false and baseless reports that the party is in touch with Sardesai.

“Where’s the question of the Goa Forward party entering into backroom talks with the Congress party or the Congress leadership establishing contacts with us. The Congress leaders should know that the Goa Forward is part and parcel of the coalition government led by Manohar Parrikar”, he added.

Expressing surprise over a statement made by a senior Congress leader that the Congress is in touch with the Goa Forward leaders, Sardesai said “this sounds all the more surprising given that the GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar had been on record on several times that the Congress will have no truck with the Goa Forward in the formation of an alternate government”.
