The issue of people staying in rented premises in Pilerne throwing garbage by the side of roads in the absence of dust bins came to fore at the gram sabha of Pilerne-Marra panchayat on Sunday.

Pilerne-Marra Panchayat Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar welcomed the gathering while panchayat secretary Peter Martins read out the minutes of the meeting held on July

29, 2018.

The villagers mentioned that the people staying in rented premises in Pilerne throw the garbage by the side of roads. Hence, the panchayat should do the survey of the rented premises in the panchayat area and collect from them the garbage fees and give them dust bins to keep the garbage.

Sarpanch Amarnath Govekar mentioned that the panchayat had carried out the survey of the rented premises with the help of the police, six months ago.

“The panchayat has again sent a notice on October 11, 2018 to the owners of the rented rooms to submit the details of rooms rented out by them along with copy of the form submitted to the police. The panchayat has already been charging garbage fees of Rs 365/room per year to the owner of the rented rooms,” said Govekar.

The gram sabha also deliberated on other issues of cleaning of drainages and nallahs, stray cattle and dogs, potholes on the

roads, etc.

The villagers complained that due to waste and debris dumped in the road side nallahs/ gutter, they get choked.

Sarpanch Govekar replied that he has entrusted the responsibility of cleaning the nallahs and gutters to the respective ward members. The residents should get in touch with their ward members and get the roadside gutters /nallahs cleaned.

On the issue of stray cattle and dogs, Sarpanch Govekar mentioned that panchayat has decided to construct a pound each for stray dogs and cattle near the panchayat ground. Once these pounds come into existence the stray cattle and dogs will be

kept in it.

Govekar also informed that the PWD will shortly undertake the hot-mixing of the internal road and the potholes will be filled up during hot-mixing work.

Later, Sarpanch Govekar presented before the gram sabha the booklet prepared by the panchayat showing the developmental

works carried out during the tenure.
