Pillion rider dies dies of injuries

MARGAO: One Maria, who was riding pillion on the scooter which her husband was riding, succumbed to her injuries which she sustained in a collision with another scooter at Colva. The husband­ wife duo were injured and the wife died while undergoing treatment at GMC. The Colva police have registered an offence under Sections 279 and 304“A of IPC.

According to Colva police, the accident occurred on February 6, when the husband-wife duo were knocked down by another scooter which was ridden by one Angelique who was proceeding from Seraulim to Mungul.

Hit-and-run incident

MARGAO: In a hit­-and­-run incident reported at Chandrawado­ Fatorda on February 18, an

unidentified driver knocked down a senior citizen, one Sayed (74), a resident of

Pedda­ Khareband. The senior citizen suffered simple injuries in the process.

The Margao town police have registered an offence under Sections 279, 337 of IPC

and Section 134 (a) (b) of MV Act.

Assault plaint filed at Areal

MARGAO: The Maina­-Curtorim police have registered complaints in a case at Sao Jose de Areal.

According to Maina­-Curtorim police, they have registered an offence based upon the complaint of one Menino Santano Fernandes of Sonum Township, Nessai, Sao Jose De Areal, that on February 21, at about 2 pm at Sonum Township, the accused person/s namely Sampada Travasso, Natty Travasso, Issac Travasso and George Travasso assaulted the complainant with a bamboo stick, punches and further tore his t-shirt and broke his gold chain and also abused him with filthy language and threatened him with dire consequences.

Police said the assault was a result of previous enmity. Further investigation is in progress.

Duo arrested for bullfight

MARGAO: The Colva police arrested two persons - ­­­ Minguel and Hilario ­­­ - who are suspected

to have organised a bull fight at Seraulim on February 20, thereby subjecting the animals to cruelty.

The duo was arrested and later released on bail. The Colva police have registered

an offence under Section 11 (M) (N) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
