PONDA
Water supply was disrupted in several parts of Ponda taluka after a water pipeline ruptured at Curti in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to reports, the incident took place when the pipeline ruptured near the Sateri temple at Curti at about 1.30 am and vast amounts of water got wasted.
PWD officials then shut down water supply from the Opa water plant and as a result, water was not supplied to Ponda, Kundai, Madkai, Wadi-Talauli, Usgao and Borim.
The PWD Assistant Engineer Kashinath Saraf and others visited the site on Thursday morning and work to repair the damaged portion of the pipeline continued throughout the day. The PWD hopes to repair the damaged pipeline by late Thursday night.
“Water supply will be resumed immediately after the repair work is completed,” said the Saraf.
