Plaint against BJP leader at Panaji PS over comments against Prophet

PANAJI

Members of the Muslim community on Friday filed a complaint before the Panaji police station seeking registration of a case against the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nupur Sharma in connection with her alleged comments against Prophet Muhammed in a national television debate on the Gyanvapi Mosque controversy recently.

Safaraz, a resident of Panaji, said such complaints against Sharma are being filed across the country as she has made blasphemous comments against the prophet.

He along with some other members of the community submitted the written complaint to the Panaji police station but could not get an audience with the Police Inspector, Nilesh Palekar, as he was out on the field.

Safaraz meanwhile said, such a complaint has also been filed by some other members of his community in Margao and added that they are planning to hold public protests if no FIR is booked and action taken.

She should at the least be expelled by the BJP if that party's claim that it is not communal is to be believed, Safaraz said.

At least three FIRs have been registered against Sharma in neighbouring Maharashtra earlier this week in connection with her alleged derogatory remark against the revered prophet.
