GHRDC starts process to terminate tainted guards

MAPUSA

Stung by the negative image after one of its security guards was caught with narcotics, the Goa Human Resources Development Corporation (GHRDC) swung into action and began the process to terminate the services of the tainted security guard.

“GHRDC is a disciplinary organisation and therefore action for the removal from service of the security guard who was allegedly found with narcotics drugs has commenced,” said Narayan Navti, Managing Director of GHRDC.

Navti along with General Manager (Security) John Aguiar, Senior Security Officer Vijay Gawas and Dealing Officer Narendra Mayekar visited the Colvale Central Jail on Friday.

It may be recalled that Sandesh Varak, a security guard at the Colvale jail, was on Thursday arrested after he was found in possession of narcotic drugs.

Police investigation revealed that the alleged accused security guard was supplying the drugs to a prisoner in the jail.

Navti informed that all the security guards at the central jail would soon be replaced.

He said that GHRDC employs security guards and other posts after proper police verification and therefore there was no question about their past criminal records.

He said the alleged accused security guard Sandesh Varak was absent since Thursday and was not allowed to join duties unless he submitted a proper leave to regularise his absence.

“The GHRDC is a reputed organisation and has been appreciated for its sincerity, honesty and devotion to duty by several government offices who are our clients,” Navti said.

Later, the MD also visited the protected sites manned by GHRDC security in the State and instructed them to be vigilant and protect the sanctity of these places.
