DIG Omvir Bishnoi on Friday said that regular crimes including theft would reduce in days to come as cybercrime is trending and has urged the police, press and authorities to create awareness among the youths and residents.
Bishnoi was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the newly built stairs and ramp at the Harbour Coastal police station.
"School and college students and even IITians can go to the public along with the police to educate the masses about the cybercrimes being committed through the internet. Cybercrime is trending now and the traditional crimes will become negligible in days to come. I request the young generation to educate themselves in elementary cyber education and do not share passwords, and instead have encrypted passwords and not store thems," said Bishnoi.
"Do not fall prey to cyber thugs who will give you an example of an easy way to earn quick money. It is better to earn money through hard work and not from cyber crimes," said Bishnoi.
"The masses must know that most of the mobile games have been developed by foreign countries and many hackers are operating from China, therefore the money does not come to the people who are playing or to the country but instead 99 per cent of the money goes to China, and we should not allow our national assets, wealth and money to go in foreign hands," said Bishnoi.
