Plaint against Dramapur panchayat

MARGAO: A gram sabha member of DramapurÂ-Sirlim village Panchayat Wilson Viegas on
Friday lodged a complaint with the Salcete block development officer, alleging that the
Panchayat did not receive his correspondence, including proposals, pertaining to the gram sabha
scheduled on Sunday.
In his complaint, Viegas pointed out that his proposals for the gram sabha was not accepted by
the panchayat body on the grounds that it was sought to be submitted beyond the time frame.
He said that he had submitted the proposal in public interest, demanding to know the resolution
adopted by the gram sabha on the sewerage network, besides the rescheduling of the gram
sabha in the month of February.
“I have asked the Salcete BDO to do justice in the matter. The panchayat cannot refuse to accept
the gram sabha proposal by citing that it came beyond time. Nothing prevents the
sarpanch and the secretary to accept the proposals, which are made in public interest,” Viegas
said, while demanding action against the panchayat secretary.
