The Poinguinim panchayat has issued a stop-work notice to a party involved in a construction activity along the coast.
Residents of Galgibaga had alleged that construction activities were taking place near a government pre-primary and primary school in Talpona.
The local panch then reported the matter to the Poinguinim panchayat, prompting Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar to issue a stop-work notice to the party concerned.
Meanwhile, locals in Loliem-Polem have also complained about constructions along the coast at Polem.
On September 18, Anand Naik along with Deepak Pagi, Ulhas Raikar and Mukesh Naik on behalf of villagers addressed a letter to Member Secretary GCZMA, Dy Director of Panchayats and Dy Director of Tourism, Margao.
Anand Naik had also sent two separate letters to the Canacona deputy collector and the sarpanch of Loliem-Polem, complaining about construction activities and demanded site inspections through the mamlatdar of Canacona.
