In yet another gang involvedin mobile thefts, CalangutePolice on Friday arrested fivepersons all from Karnatakawho allegedly stole mobilesfrom people.Ten mobile phones besidesbroken pieces of a gold chainall worth around Rs 5 lakh wererecovered from the accused.
A resident of Uttar Pradesh,Karthik Sandeep complainedthat some unknown personssnatched his mobile phonewhile he was moving aroundon the beach side.
Acting on the complaint,Calangute Police launched aninvestigation and succeeded inapprehending a group of fivepersons “ Ram Bhowmick, AnilRamu Rathod, Sanjeev Singh,Sunny Saho and Yogesh Devania all native of Karnataka.
During interrogation the accused confessed that they werestaying in a hotel at Panaji.
Police recovered the mobile phone of the complainantalong with nine other mobilephones besides broken pieces of a gold chain all wortharound Rs 5 lakh.The accused have been detained and further investigation is in progress.
