OLD GOA
Residents of St Agostinho in Santa Cruz finally heaved a sigh of relief as the police team stationed in their ward since the past many days was finally shifted on Monday.
One of the locals informed The Goan that the police personnel were not seen in their ward since Monday morning.
“It has come as a huge relief for us as the villagers were having anxious moments over the presence of the police force, including armed personnel without justification,” the local added.
It may be recalled that The Goan had highlighted that the locals had expressed apprehension over the presence of the police force in their ward and were left to wonder whether there was any threat to the villagers.
Some locals had also sought to know the real reason behind the stationing of the police force as they refused to buy the claims that it was due to panchayat polls.
Even the local MLA Rudolf Fernandes informed that he was kept in the dark about the issue.
