BICHOLIM
Politicians visited the Padocem water treatment plant on Friday, following complaints of irregular water supply and supply of turbid water to people of Bicholim and Sakhali areas.
Since the last few days, there have been several complaints regarding water supply in Bicholim taluka, as water released at midnight had made it difficult for people to store water.
There were also complaints from some parts of Bicholim and Sakhali that the taps were receiving turbid water and was unsuitable for potable purposes.
Responding to the complaints, Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal and former Sakhali MLA Pratap Gawas made separate visits to the Padocem water treatment plant on Friday to take the stock of the situation.
During their visit, they inquired with the officials at the water treatment plant and were reportedly informed that only 30 per cent of water is treated as the filter belts have been damaged.
Pratap Gawas blamed the government for its apathy to the plant and warned that people would start an agitation if the water crisis is not resolved within a few days.
