Pramod Acharya, editor, Prudent Media had a one-on-one talk with Raghav Chadha, the national spokesperson for AAP, and Delhi MLA where he opened up on the political scenario in Goa.
Lamenting on the sad state of political affairs in Goa, Chadha said Goans have experienced politics of betrayal and backstabbing. “Congress has become irrelevant here. If there is any honest alternative before the people of Goa, it is only AAP. In the upcoming elections, only BJP and AAP would be at loggerheads”, he said.
Speaking further, he said “if AAP gains the confidence of the voters, just like the people in Delhi, we would clean up this mess and provide good governance”.
Assuring Goans that AAP would not let them down, Chadha said “We will eradicate and rule out the three ‘C’s “ casteism, communalism and corruption.”
When asked who would be the chief ministerial face of AAP and whether the party would find 40 faces in Goa, Chadja announced three big takeaways, “AAP would announce the face at an appropriate time, the face would be from within the 15 lakh people in Goa and the Goans would be proud of the chief ministerial candidate.”
Commenting on the horse trading practice that Goa is used to all these years, he said, “we will put a stop to horse trading practice. AAP pursues honest and clean politics. Let’s eradicate instability and betrayal. AAP Goa unit will find 40 brilliant candidates who are upright and give corruption-free governance in Goa.”
When asked by Pramod Acharya on the timing of the announcement he made on the power bills, Chadha explained that he is not making a calculative announcement keeping the election in mind. “This conversation was started by the power minister in Goa. Now he has backtracked or is rather, chickening out”.
Chadha further compared that Delhi’s annual budget is Rs 60,000 crore and the population is two crore, so the AAP government is spending Rs 30,000 per person per annum. Goa’s annual budget is 21,000 crore and the population is 15 lakh, so the BJP government’s expenditure is Rs 1.40 lakh per person per annum. Delhi is giving free water, free electricity, free public transport to women, pension, free healthcare, free education etc. “Why is Goa’s healthcare sector not good and the bills are so high,” asked Chada.
While commenting on the twitter war between the chief minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant and the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Chadha said that Kejriwal only wants to tell Goa CM to pay heed to the people of Goa and listen to their demands.
Blaming the Goa government for making the people suffer by ushering the double track rail and transporting coal, Chadha reasoned out that air pollution is a North India issue, and Delhi is suffering due to it. Delhi has not created air pollution, but why Goa wants forcefully, to invite coal pollution, when the atmosphere here is clean.
He said that Kejriwal is dealing with the air pollution, which had come down in September. “The Delhi air quality has improved by 20%. Coal transportation will bring in pollution in Goa and the voice of the people should be listened to,” said Chada.
